Water Soluble Oils

In this class you will explore floral technique with a focus on tulips, lilies and hydrangeas and learn to paint them so that they are believable. Please bring your water soluble oil supplies which may include the basic water soluble oil kit, a 2" palette knife, a canvas no larger than 11 x 14, and a flat acrylic palette. Register by May 1.

Everyday Energy

Stone series. Shake off the winter blues and step out with a new positive outlook on spring with harmony and balance. In this class you will learn the metaphysical properties of stones that can boost your daily energy using emeralds, moonstone, hematite, jade, tiger eye and agate. The metaphysical properties of stones can give you that little "umph" you need when things get you down. It is nice to know you can reach into your pocket and have your own little support group with you at all times. Find out how using stones in your everyday life can help. Register by April 9.

Networking Class for Artists

Chinese Brush Painting

Instructor is Jinxiu Zhao (Alice) from Durham and China
Thursday, April 28 from 1:00 to 4:00
$48 for the 3 hour workshop

Jinxiu did Chinese brush painting for twenty years in Hobei Province, China before moving to the Triangle area nine years ago.
You will learn to use the Chinese brush, apply ink and paint the famous subjects of bamboo and plum blossom. No experience required. If you have some experience Jinxiu will work with you at your level.
Supplies to bring are a pad of newsprint, a medium sized Chinese brush (Jinxiu has good brushes from China that you can purchase if you let us know in advance. You can get a set of three from her for $20.), a container for water and a small plate on which to mix water and ink, a small bottle of "Suni" ink and a small dish to hold the ink.
Register by April 21.

Intermediate Watercolor

This class is for those with some experience. It continues for April 6, 13, and 20. Please bring your own supplies. Space is limited. Register by 3 days before each class.

Hammered Silver Jewelry

Instructor is Jeannette Barringer of Apex
Saturday, March 26 from 1:00 to 3:00
$30 plus $10 supplies

Create earrings or a neck piece starting with your own design on paper, practicing it with a piece of copper, then molding the sterling silver and adding beads or crystals to make it ready to wear. Basic techniques for plain and wrapped loops and clasp making can also be covered. Register by March 21.

You bring: round nose pliers, chain pliers or any other jewelry making tools you already have. Also bring your beads or crystal , if you like.
Jeannette brings: beads and crystals, copper and silver, hammers and bench blocks. Also she will bring wires for earrings. If you want posts, please bring them.
